Good Grief

At least I want to be positive and say it's good grief, not bad. Good news is, MOM IS COMING to SAINT MAARTEN this Thursday! I can't wait! The grief is I won't know until Friday if I am staying here until the end of August, or going to Utah on Sunday. I'm just a little bit stressed, ok maybe not a little bit, but I'm trying to calm down. I'm glad mom will be here so it will be a lot of fun at work and after work. I thought it would be a good idea to let her sleep in Friday morning, and then I'd get her at lunch and she can shop or chill at the beach. Mom didn't think so, she's planning on coming to work with us, standing infront of the store, and ushering people into the store to shop! It should be very interesting, I think I'll train her on the register, I am so sick of it, that's all I do everyday because the locals don't like doing it. I'm the manager of the store, and the cashier, it's great! So if I am coming back to the states on Sunday, I get to see family, friends, and set up my apartment and open wedding gifts finally! Oh ya....and look for a job and try to get out everyone's Thank You's from the wedding! Good grief. :)

Saint Maarten Park (zoo)

Well, we went to the zoo because we heard they had monkeys there, and who doesn't like seeing monkeys? We've also heard there are "wild" monkeys where we live, but we've never seen one. The only wild one we saw was this little guy down in the pictures. He was wild because he broke out of the cage! He had torn a rip in the window screenish wall which held him in his cage. All the other monkeys were screaming their heads off, probably jealous that he was free! But, the little monkey didn't know where to go, so he sat on top of the cage most the day. When we were leaving, I asked the woman at the desk if she knew there was a monkey on the loose. "Ya...da manager might try to catch him later..." she didn't seem very worried about getting him back in the cage, or the safety of visitors! This zoo was totally different than US zoos. There were about...700 lizards scampering around. Peacocks were just walking around on there own, chickens and roosters and their chicklets everywhere. The bat cave....well was a cave with bats. No, not behind glass, or in cages, it was just a dark cave with a door and bats in the room. Needless to say we didn't go in there!

The monkey escaped!

Unique

Andrew and I have found our favorite place to chill on our lunch brakes, the dock where people get on the water taxi. It's in the shade, we get to admire the scenery, and watch the funny tourists! We found a cafe that is like a knock off starbucks, and if you know me at all, you know I love hot chocolate. Even in hot hot hot Saint Maarten! Some people think its way odd, but it's what makes me, me!

Symbolism

So when I got here, I was super white. After today...I have some color! You don't know how much this means to me, I take so long to tan! I'm going from white to black by the end of the summer! See any symbolism?? :) It was our day off and we went to Baie Longue again, we love it there, so peaceful and secluded. Andrew loves looking for big conch shells, and I love soaking in the sun. Then we stopped by a restaurant to get one of our favorite drinks, a Mango Coloda. They are so delicious! I can't wait to share one with you mom!

Homeless No Longer!

Well, we have our own apartment starting August 6th! Yep....we don't get to Utah until the 24th! Sadly the next available apartment would be in October. Oh well, I am just glad I can rest easy!

Nursery

This is the cutest little boy ever. With Andrew and I in nursery for two hours, with two well behaved toddlers, its needless to say one could get bored! So I brought my camera and had a little photo-shoot. Here are some of my favorites. He is so sweet!

This is a section from the nursery manual. I just thought it was pretty funny!

Red, White, and Blues

I am SO SAD to be away on the fourth of july. It is like my second favorite holiday. I love America. I should have been watching fireworks like these....but this is about the most patriotic I got! We decided to paint our nails with the banner's colors, and then painted little girl's nails too. The first little girl I painted, I asked her where she was from...turns out she was from CANADA! We had a good laugh about that one, but apparently it was Canada's independence day on monday. Happy Fourth of July everyone!
